Horse Day Camps for Kids

Do you have a child who loves horses, a child who spends all day talking about them and the whole night dreaming about them? Our three-day horse day camps are designed for your child. At Falling Star Ranch, your child will get immersed into the wonderful world of horses in a safe, fun, friendly, relaxed and caring environment.

Our horse day camps aim to teach children about horse behaviour, how to build a relationship with an equine partner, good horsemanship, responsibility and team work. Through horse-related games and activities, kids learn about the care of horses, their characteristics, breeds, colours, and safe handling - both on the ground and while mounted - in a fun-filled environment.

Our horse day camps are designed to encourage all levels of riders to be the best that they can be, while keeping things safe, fun, positive, and rewarding, which builds self esteem and encourages kids to broaden their horizons and develop lasting relationships.

Our love and knowledge of horses will be unmatched by our enthusiasm to teach kids proper horsemanship, horse care and riding skills. Riding instruction with a focus on safety is provided by Chris Irwin gold certified coach and trainer Birgit Stutz.

Date and Time

Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. each day, with a one hour lunch break. There will be a demonstration for parents of camp participants on Sunday afternoon.

Who can Join?

Children 9 to 15 years old.
Beginners to advanced.
Age exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Group Size

Minimum 6, maximum 8 participants

Cost and Registration

Cost is $150.00 per child. A deposit of $50.00 is required to hold your child's spot. Balance is due on the first day of camp. Please email for registration form.

What to Bring

Water for personal water consumption (please send along a distinct bottle that your child will be able to recognize as theirs or label it with their name).
Snacks and a lunch for the day. Refrigeration and storage will be provided.
Comfortable clothing, not too tight and not too loose, should be worn. Please wear jeans, boot or straight cut (no hiphuggers, bell or flare bottom jeans - they catch in the stirrups and are not safe) or riding pants (breeches). Chaps are optional.
Track pants or shorts for activities that don't directly involve horses
Warm sweater or coat for cooler days
Rain jacket
Rubber boots
Ball cap or cowboy hat and sunglasses for protection against the sun
Insect repellent
Suntan lotion
Riding gloves (recommended)
Hard-soled shoes or riding boots such as cowboy boots, paddock boots or an ankle height lace up street-style boot with a small heel (not too wide) for all activities - no runners or sandals!
ASTM/SEI approved helmets are mandatory for all riders while mounted (no bike helmets). Falling Star Ranch has a few helmets available for students. If you have a riding helmet of your own that is ASTM/SEI certified, please bring it with you.
