Welcome to the Falling Star RanchLia from Australia, age 26Length of stay: October 24, 2009 - November 16, 2009
Lia riding Alberta
My fave horse: Alberta because she is innocent at the same time as being a little feisty. She has kind eyes and comfortable gaits. My fondest memory: Riding up into the Rocky Mountains in the snow. Advice for future volunteers: Aim to stay for longer than a month. It is not enough time to fully develop your skills. My personal experience: I've learned heaps in my short stay and can never go back now [to other ways of handling horses]. I believe that anybody who disagrees with Chris's techniques will do so because they can't be bothered to put that much work in just for the kindness to the horses. This is unacceptable. If you decide to own/work an animal it is your responsibility to do everything in your power to treat the animal with respect and due care. Just like the quote "WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOREVER, FOR THAT WHICH WE TAME" by Antoine De Saint- Exupere. Falling Star Ranch provides the tools and is an amazing opportunity for anybody who has the spare time to come.
